Provenance.io is the leading independent financial blockchain platform with over $1B in transacted assets. I joined the growing team as a Lead Product Designer to guide alignment across Product and Brand while leading end-to-end design for the company's portfolio of products and services across app, desktop, and mobile.
Provenance.io is disrupting the financial services industry by using blockchain technology to eliminate the inefficiencies tied to traditional financial services. In 2019, Provenance aimed to utilize their blockchain technology to scale the business by launching B2B products and services for Businesses, Employees, and Investors transacting on their platform.
Partnering closely with the CTO, Product Managers, and Engineers, I worked alongside the Senior UX Designer to translate product requirements into fully-realized experiences —— carefully architecting user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for the company's key product initiative: Equity Management software.
The Equity Dashboard is an adminstrative tool for businesses and their investors and employees. It acts as the hub for all things equity including issuing, tracking, reporting, and approving equity. Companies often turned to third party platforms to perform such tasks, so there was an opportunity to build our own product to eliminate the need for additional software for our users.

What was most exciting was the opportunity to build out the product experience from the ground up. Not only we were able to shape the product strategy and requirements, but we also defined the UI/UX, interactions, and visual design of the entire Equity Management ecosystem.
Crossing over into Product Design has allowed me to exercise my strategic thinking skills while also delivering a strong, branded aesthetic across every flow of the design. I especially love the 'dark UI' we were able to introduce for the product.
improving the ux
One of the feature refinements I worked on was allowing for different permission levels when managing users. We focused on a three-tier system for launch: Admin (power user), Editor (edge-case user), and Viewer (limited user). Each level has specific capabilities, so we needed a way to visually convey the differences within the UI.
I solved this by creating a visual "check" system showing which limitations are set as you toggle between permission types. Everything happens subtly within the UI as the user interacts and is a simple way to compare the three permission settings.
The Investor Passport is a digital identification tool used to verify a user's accreditation. Inspired by Passes on the Apple Wallet app, my goal as Design Lead was to create a similarly bitesized, shareable visual UI for a product that was a critical prerequisite for engaging in business transactions on Provenance's platform.
ios and mobile
I didn't want the design to detract from the intent, so I thought carefully about how my design appeared on a mobile device. I ensured that the information was highlighted, that it was skimmable, and that it fit perfectly into mobile viewports —— just like business cards into wallets —— with an added QR code to emulate the traditional in-person social exchange.
REFLECTION
Going into Provenance as an Associate Design Director, I had limited experience with the financial tech world, having spent the past 10+ years in the retail and fashion industry.
I learned quickly, however, that what I could bring to the table was a unique creative lens that understood customers and how to translate technical/complex subject matter into a personable user experience. Most people are familiar with retail, whether shopping in person or online, but finances are a scary matter for most. Leaning into my retail experience, I was able to story tell the finance products Provenance was offering in an easily digestible and attractive format for everyday consumers.
